FACILITIES

There are six public parks within the Village: Memorial Park, Bridlewood Park, McFadyen Park, Lancaster Park, Veterans Park, and Community Center Park.  The Village also has a Community Center.

Memorial Park

Memorial Park stretches between the Obetz Government Center and the Street Department building, which is located at the West end of the park. The Columbus Crew training facility is also located in Memorial Park.

With a total area of 80 acres, Memorial Park is the largest of all the existing parks. The park has a one-acre fishing pond that has been stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. There is also a gravel parking area near the pond for your convenience. The park contains two basketball courts, two horseshoe pits, a children’s play area with playground equipment and benches, as well as a paved parking lot. There are also three football/soccer fields.  There are paved walking paths around the municipal building as well as dirt nature trails in the wooded area around the Columbus Crew Training Facility. This year three softball fields, a baseball field, and a concession stand with restroom facilities have been added.

Bridlewood Park

Bridlewood Park is a six-acre park located along Bridlewood Blvd. The park contains a playground area with a swing set, slide, spring toys, and climbing toys. The park also has a sand volleyball court and a shelter house with picnic tables and grills.

McFadyen Park

Lancaster Park

Lancaster Park is a four-and-a-half-acre park located along Lancaster Street and is best known as the home of the Obetz Zucchinifest, which is held there in August each year. It contains two basketball courts and a playground area with climbing toy, slides, spring toy, and a swing set.

Veterans Park

Veterans Park is a small half-acre park located along Groveport Road next to Lancaster Park. It contains a gazebo and benches. It also has several memorials to Obetz veterans.

Senior Services

The Village of Obetz has an active senior community and therefore the Village has created a diverse program of activities for our residents. On Mondays and Thursdays lunch is served at the Community Center at noon. This is a great opportunity to socialize with other residents. Bingo is played every Monday immediately following lunch. The walking club meets on Mondays and Thursdays at 11:00 A.M. The walking club visits various central Ohio locations during the summer. Check the calendar for more activities.

Tweener Trips

Tweeners are active adults no matter what age, who want to continue experiencing life. Tweener Trips are open to any adult resident of Obetz and are scheduled throughout the year. Check the calendar often for upcoming events. If you are interested in going on a trip, sign up at the Community Center or email Judy Hogan at judyh@obetz.oh.us

Senior Transportation Program

The Village’s Senior Transportation Program provides dependable service to senior citizens and disabled residents who have no other means of transportation. Transportation is available for medical and personal appointments within a twenty mile radius. Service is offered curb-to-curb Monday through Friday at no cost to the resident. All appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments should be scheduled between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. so that pick-up times fall between 8:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. The Village also picks up residents for the senior lunches on Mondays and Thursdays. Thursday afternoon following lunch residents are taken to the grocery store. If you are a senior resident in need of transportation, you are encouraged to utilize this program.
